Strategic Plan 2008-2010
Goal 1: Create inviting, welcoming libraries that are a community destination.
Objective A: Reinvent the Main Library by evaluating the physical space, layout and atmosphere of the Main Library.
Objective B: Re-evaluate the Bookmobile and each branch library facility’s ability to serve specific community interests and create value added planned spaces.
Goal 2: Develop customer-focused libraries to support our role as a vital, responsive, and helpful community resource.
Objective A: Provide ongoing professional training to develop versatile, flexible, customer-focused staff to address patron needs and expectations.
Objective B: Maintain policies, procedures and staffing to support customer-focused library operations.
Objective C: Provide staff with the technology and resources to offer customer-focused service.
Objective D: Keep materials and technological resources current for the public.
Goal 3: Develop stable and diverse revenue sources through advocacy, partnerships and philanthropy.
Objective A: Advocate for secure, stable, long-term state funding of our public libraries.
Objective B: Pass local library levies to maintain or improve library operations.
Objective C: Increase awareness and understanding of the Library’s value to the business community and promote partnerships.
Objective D: Promote and support the activities of the Foundation.
Goal 4: Increase public awareness of the Lorain Public Library System.
Objective A: Promote the benefits, values and importance of the library system to our communities resulting in greater public support demonstrated through passage of our library levies.
Objective B: Increase community awareness of the Lorain Public Library System resulting in at least a 5% increase in library usage (circulation, headcount, in-library computer usage, program attendance, library website usage).
Objective C: Cultivate community involvement in the library system resulting in a 10% increase in volunteer participation.
